Scholarships
For current students, scholarship application packages are due in the CoA Office of the Dean before 5pm on March 1st, 2013. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Application packages must be submitted to Nicole Chavez, Development Associate, in the Office of the Dean, MNT 3.360, 301 S. Frio Street, San Antonio, Texas 78207

Construction Science and Management Scholarship Application Form
General information for all COA scholarship applicants
Applicants will be considered for all available scholarships for which the student is eligible. Students do not apply for individual scholarships but, for informational purposes, the list of all available scholarships for current students can be found below, along with the criteria for each.
The dollar amounts of each scholarship are subject to change. Scholarships are non-renewable; they must be applied for each academic year.
As a condition of receiving a scholarship, recipients will be required to attend the CoA Scholarship and Awards Banquet, which will take place in the 2013 fall semester. In addition, recipients will be required to submit “Thank you” letters, a signed Acceptance Form, and a Biographical Information Form by the date of the banquet. The specific date and time of the banquet will be announced at a later date. Contact the Office of the Dean for more information.
Instructions for Architecture and Interior Design students
Architecture and Interior Design application packages must include the following components:
(1) COA Scholarship Application Form
(2) Career and Goals statement: 300-500 word statement that discusses your career aspirations, future plans, related interests, and previous experiences that are a part of your career path.
(3) Letter of recommendation (one) from a faculty member in the College.
(4) Discipline-specific component:
a) Architecture and Interior Design students (B.S. Arch, B.S. IDE, M.Arch 2 and M.Arch 3) are required to submit a Portfolio. The Portfolio is defined as a sample of recent design work (i.e. studio project presentations) and cannot be more than two pages of content (8.5 x 11). Bear in mind that the work shown should be representative of your best work.
b) M.S. Architecture students are required to submit 1-2 Writing Samples. Writing Samples include research papers, professional reports, book reviews, and analytical essays.
To receive scholarships, Architecture and Interior Design students must be enrolled full-time; undergraduate students must be enrolled for 12 credit hours per semester and graduate students for 9 credit hours per semester.
Instructions for Construction Science and Management students
Construction Science and Management students must submit:
(1) Construction Science and Management Scholarship Application Form
CSM students are not required to submit portfolios, career and goals statements, or letters of recommendation.
To receive scholarships, CSM students must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours per semester.
Instructions for Urban & Regional Planning students
Urban and Regional Planning application packages must include the following components:
(1) CoA Scholarship Application Form
(2) Letter of recommendation (one) from a faculty member in the College.
(3) Discipline-specific component:
a) M.S. URP students are required to submit 1-2 Writing Samples. Writing Samples include research papers, professional reports, book reviews, and analytical essays.
URP students are not required to submit portfolios or career and goals statements in their application packages.
To receive scholarships, URP students must be enrolled full-time, which is 9 credit hours per semester for graduate students.
Architecture and Interior Design Scholarships
AIA San Antonio Endowed Scholarship
- Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level or undergraduate level (juniors and seniors only)
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
Bill and Diane Hays Endowed Scholarship in Architecture and Interior Design
- Declared major in Interior Design or Architecture at the undergraduate level
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
Donald E. Everett Scholarship in Historic Preservation, Monte Vista Historical Association
- Must be pursuing the Historic Preservation Graduate Certificate
- Must be enrolled full-time as a graduate student (at least 9 credit hours)
Frederick L. Gratton Memorial Endowed Scholarship
- Declared major in Interior Design
- Must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester)
- Must be an active member of the IIDA Campus Center at UTSA at the time of application and during the award period
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
Gene George Endowed Architecture Scholarship in Historic Preservation
- Must be pursuing the Historic Preservation Graduate Certificate
- Must be enrolled full-time as a graduate student (at least 9 credit hours)
Intertech Flooring Endowed Scholarship in Interior Design
- Declared major in Interior Design
- Must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester)
- Funds shall be used exclusively to support the recipient’s participation in a national or international trade fair approved by the Interior Design faculty at UTSA
Jack Greene Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Interior Design
- Declared major in Interior Design
- Must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester)
- Must be an active member of the IIDA Campus Center at UTSA at the time of application and during the award period
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
Julius M and Kathy Gribou Endowed Scholarship in Architecture
- Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level or undergraduate level (juniors and seniors only)
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
- Funds shall be used exclusively to support the recipient’s participation in a UTSA College of Architecture foreign study program or to defray the costs of approved student travel outside of North America when such travel is associated with a project resulting in academic credit in the UTSA College of Architecture
Kimberly and Ron Blank Annual Scholarship in Architecture
- Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 credit hours each semester for graduate students)
Lloyd W. and Cisi Jary Scholarship
- Declared major in Interior Design or Architecture at the undergraduate level
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each semester)
- Minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average
Rinaldo J. Gonzalez and Alicia C. Trevino Endowed Scholarship in Architecture
- Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 credit hours each semester)
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
San Antonio Conservation Society Eleanor Freeborn Educational Scholarship
- Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level
- Must be pursuing the Historic Preservation Graduate Certificate
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 credit hours each semester)
San Antonio Conservation Society Eleanor Freeborn Study Abroad Scholarship
- Declared major in Architecture at the graduate level
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 credit hours each semester)
- Funds shall be used exclusively to support the recipient’s participation in a UTSA College of Architecture foreign study program
San Antonio Masonry Contractors Association Endowed Scholarship
- Recipients must have a declared major at the undergraduate or graduate level in the College of Architecture
- Must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours each semester for undergraduates, 9 credit hours each semester for graduates)
- Undergraduate recipients must complete a masonry-related independent study project during the award period
- Graduate recipients must explore issues related to masonry in their thesis
